**I Conducted a Thorough Search for This Quarter—Has Anyone Come Across It?**
Have you come across the Maya Angelou quarter yet? I've been on the hunt for this particular coin, but no luck so far. I’d love to know if anyone else has had better luck!
The Maya Angelou quarter, part of the American Women Quarters Program, was minted at facilities in both Philadelphia and Denver. The U.S. Mint stated that the design on the tails side, featuring the image of Angelou, was “inspired by her poetry and symbolic of the way she lived.” A fitting tribute to a woman whose career spanned dance, theater, journalism, and social activism. One notable highlight is her co-writing of the play *Cabaret for Freedom* with Godfrey Cambridge, which appeared both on Broadway and off.
Maya Angelou, who passed away in 2014 at age 86, was the first of 20 pioneering women chosen to be honored in the American Women Quarters Program. The U.S. Mint released more than 204 million of these quarters into circulation nationwide, so there’s a good chance you may find one in your change!
On the heads side of the coin, you'll find a portrait of George Washington. This design was originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser to celebrate Washington’s 200th birthday.
If you happen to come across a 2022 Maya Angelou quarter from the Philadelphia mint with a rare "Nesting Bird" error, hold onto it! These special quarters have been known to fetch up to $480. In uncirculated condition, some have even gone for as much as $1,000.
Let me know if you’ve come across one of these quarters yet—I’m still searching!
