In today's world, social media has become a ubiquitous presence in our lives. From the moment we wake up, we are bombarded with notifications, messages, and updates from our online connectedness. But what if we took a break? What if we put down our phones and turned off our computers for just a day and a half? I recently decided to do just that. I wanted to see what it would be like to disconnect from the constant stream of online activity and focus on the world around me. While I'll admit that I cheated a few times by scrolling through my social media feeds, overall I was able to stay away from posting and only checked in occasionally to see what was going on. The experience was both freeing and eye-opening. Without the distraction of social media, I found myself with more time to focus on writing.
